Overview

Gmail periodically introduces new security settings for attachment protection, link and image scanning, and spoofing and authentication. Enabling automatic updates across all three areas ensures your organization benefits from Google's latest protections without requiring manual action each time a new setting is released.

Prerequisites

  • Super Admin access to the Google Admin console

  • Gmail Settings administrator privilege

Instructions

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console

  2. Navigate to Apps > Google Workspace > Settings for Gmail > Safety

  3. Scroll to the Attachments section and enable Apply future recommended settings automatically

  4. Scroll to the Links and external images section and enable Apply future recommended settings automatically

  5. Scroll to the Spoofing and authentication section and enable Apply future recommended settings automatically

  6. Click Save

Note: This setting only applies to future recommendations Google adds. It does not retroactively change any settings you have already configured. For full details, refer to Google's documentation on advanced phishing and malware protection.
