Overview

Google Takeout allows users to download copies of their data from Google services. For organizations that need to control where company data goes, disabling Takeout prevents users from bulk-exporting corporate data to personal storage.

Prerequisites

  • Super Admin access to the Google Admin console

Instructions

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console

  2. Navigate to Data > Data import & export > Google Takeout

  3. Click User access to Takeout for Google services

  4. Select the checkbox next to Service name at the top of the list to select all services

  5. Click Don't allow to disable Takeout for all listed services

  6. Click Save

Next, disable Takeout for services without individual admin controls:

  1. Next to Services without an individual admin control, click Edit

  2. Select Don't allow for everyone

  3. Click Save

โš ๏ธ This prevents users from exporting data from all Google services listed, including YouTube, Google Photos, Google Drive, and others. Make sure this aligns with your organization's data policies before applying.
