Overview

Confidential Mode allows users to send emails that cannot be forwarded, copied, printed, or downloaded by recipients. Emails can also be set to expire after a specified period or require the recipient to enter a passcode to open them, adding an extra layer of control over sensitive communications.

Prerequisites

  • Super Admin access to the Google Admin console

Instructions

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console

  2. Navigate to Apps > Google Workspace > Gmail > User settings

  3. Select the organizational unit you want to apply this setting to

  4. Scroll to the Confidential mode section

  5. Check Enable confidential mode

  6. Click Save

Note: Once enabled by an admin, users can access Confidential Mode when composing an email in Gmail. Changes may take up to 24 hours to propagate to all users.
