Overview
Jailbroken iOS devices and rooted Android devices have had their built-in security protections removed, making them significantly more vulnerable to malware, data theft, and unauthorized access. Blocking these devices from Slack reduces the risk that sensitive workspace data is compromised through a tampered device.
Prerequisites
Workspace Owner (Free, Pro, Business+ plans) or Org Owner (Enterprise plans)
Available on all Slack plans
Instructions
Free, Pro, and Business+ plans
From your desktop, click Admin in the sidebar
Select Workspace settings from the menu, then click Security
Next to Jailbroken or rooted devices, click Edit
Uncheck Allow jailbroken or rooted devices to access Slack
Click Save
Enterprise plans
From your desktop, click your organization name in the sidebar
Hover over Tools & settings, then click Organization settings
From the left sidebar, click Security, then select Security settings
Next to Jailbroken or rooted devices, click Edit
Uncheck Allow jailbroken or rooted devices to access Slack
Click Save
Note: Slack's detection is based on industry best practices but may not catch every compromised device, and may occasionally flag devices that aren't actually jailbroken or rooted. Members blocked by this setting will be signed out the next time Slack checks for compromised devices.
